Construction Administration

Anyone needing a permit or inspection should call Midland Township (989) 835-8866. Hours are Monday -- 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. and Tuesday thru Thursday – 8:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.

Ditches & Drains

In general, roadway ditches are designed to drain water from the roads, and are not designed to drain property. Maintenance of roadway ditches is performed by the Midland County Road Commission. On occasion, Ingersoll Township and the Midland County Road Commission will cooperate on roadway drain maintenance. Maintenance of driveway tubes is the responsibility of the property owner.

Fire

Ingersoll Township has two fire departments who respond to fire or emergency calls in the township.  Midland Township Fire Department is first response for the area from LaPorte Road north in the township.  Richland Township Fire Department is first response for the area south of LaPorte Road.  They both furnish mutual aid to the other fire department if needed.  Other local area fire departments also furnish mutual aid in case of a fire.

Land Division Approvals

Land divisions are approved by the Ingersoll Township Supervisor. A completed application form, along with all required information, should be submitted to the Township Supervisor along with the $100 application fee payable to “Ingersoll Township.” A copy of the application, along with the Township’s Land Division Ordinance, is available here: Land Division Application and Ordinance

Mosquito Control

Residents can check on the Midland County website http://www.co.midland.mi.us/ for news, calendars, job opportunities and other information.  The mosquito control pages have maps, treatment schedules and other information specific to their program.  For those of you who would like to visit them in person, their office is located at 2180 Meridian Road in Sanford and telephone number is 832-8677.  They have a hotline, 832-NEWS (832-6397) that provides nightime fogging schedules and information on special events.  Their e-mail address is This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Ordinance Enforcement

Complaints about ordinance violations should be submitted to the Township Supervisor at (989) 832-1770. Complaints will be investigated by the Township Ordinance Enforcement Officer, Jerry Nielsen. 

Roads

Ingersoll Township and the Midland County Road Commission share responsibility for maintaining County roads in the Township. Each fall, the Township meets with the Midland County Road Commission to determine maintenance to be performed the following year. The cost of this maintenance is shared equally by the Township and by the Midland County Road Commission. More information about the Midland County Road Commission is available at their website

Scrap Tire Cleanup

Scrap tires create several issues.  They are an environmental concern, a troublesome breeding ground for mosquito larvae and an eyesore.  Midland County Mosquito Control, Greendale Township and Midland Recyclers  have joined together to help Midland County residents property dispose of tires.  They will hold their Spring 2014 scrap tire collection on May 17, 2014 from 8 am to noon at Greendale Township Municipal Building, 4750 W. Isabella Road, Shepherd, MI.  You must have an appointment to drop off tires.  Call Midland Recyclers at (989) 631-1668 and be prepared to give the following information:  Name, address and the number of tires you wish to bring.  Ten (10) tires (size 16.5" and smaller) without rims will be free for those individuals who make an appointment.  Those without an appointment will pay per tire.  Passenger car (16.5 and smaller) are $1 without rims and $3 with rims.  No free tires will be given.  Tires will be taken only if there is room and individuals will have to wait for an open time in the schedule to unload.
